New earthquake educational tool to be shown at IEMA Training Summit

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - A new tool will be available to help educate people about earthquakes.

The new interactive kiosk is being unveiled at the 2018 IEMA Training Summit in downtown Springfield.

The mobile interactive kiosk includes videos, audio clips, animations and a new virtual reality feature.

It provides information about earthquake hazards in Illinois, safety tips and how-to videos that demonstrate methods for securing bookshelves, wall-hangings, water heaters and other household items.

After the summit, the kiosk will be available to travel around the state to schools, civic engagements and community events.

The Great Central U.S. Shakeout earthquake drill will be on October 18.
