Springfield road work, construction schedule announced for Sept. 10 week


SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) – The city of Springfield has announced road closures and tree trimming scheduled for the week of Sept. 10.

Railroad corridor work is happening at the following places and times:

•         3rd Street tracks & Lawrence (CLOSED Saturday, September 8 thru September 14)

•         3rd Street tracks & Ash (re-opened on September 7)

Asphalt paving work is happening starting Monday at the following streets:

  • S. 6th Street Frontage Road (Hoechester – Christopher)
  • Christopher Lane
  • Fairview Lane
  • West Fairview Lane
  • Hoechester Road (6th – Hayley)
  • Hyde Park Place
  • Skyline Drive

Public works will be completing alley and sidewalk repairs at:

•         North-South Alley between 20th and 21st Street from Joles to Griffiths

•         North-South Alley between 19th and Indiana from Moffat to Dayton

•         North-South Alley between 19th and Indiana from Hamilton to Dayton

•         North-South Alley between Ohio and Wheeler from N. Grand to Cincinnati

•         Lawrence Ave Sidewalk (3rd- 4th St, south side)

•         East-West Alley from 14th to 15th between Carpenter and Reynolds

•         East-West Alley from 16th to 17th between Miller and Carpenter

•         East-West Alley from 3rd to 4th between Monroe and Capitol

Sewer repair and replacement work is continuing on the following schedule:  

  • Replacing sewer on 11th Street between S. Grand and Cook Streets
  • ***Kansas between 11th and 13th closed to thru traffic beginning September 11***
  • ***Inside lanes closed between South Grand and Cook thru December***
  • ***Outside lanes open and all businesses open and accessible***
  • North 4th Street (Rafter – North Grand) reduced to one lane for repair from Sept. 10-11

Springfield’s sidewalk program will cause the following areas to be under construction with weather permitting:

•         Glenwood (Fayette – Lawrence)

•         Williams Blvd (MacArthur – Walnut)

•         Walnut Street (Ash – Laurel)

•         South 5th Street (Stanford – RR underpass (north)

•         South 6th Street (Stanford – Princeton)

Concrete work is scheduled to happen between 5th Street and the Allen ADA ramp during the week with weather permitting. Concrete patching is happening on Dodge Street between Rutledge Street and 3rd Street.

Brick street repairs – and specifically curb work – will happen at Glenwood Avenue and Ash Street.

Finally, Nelson Tree Service (CWLP’s contractor) is trimming trees for the line clearance program at the following locations:

•         From Koke Mill Road to Veteran’s Parkway between Lawrence Avenue and Bluff Road

•         From Cincinnati Avenue and Sangamon Avenue between Albany Street and Skipton Road
