Hundreds volunteering for United Way Fall Day of Action


SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Close to 250 volunteers will be working on 26 different service projects this weekend during the United Way of Central Illinois 2018 Fall Day of Action.

People will be working on projects throughout Springfield Friday from 1 to 4 and Saturday from 9 to noon.

Volunteers from the following companies will be participating:

  • Wells Fargo
  • Bank of Springfield
  • Horace Mann Companies
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Crawford, Murphy, and Tilly, Inc.
  • US Bank
  • Illinois National Bank
  • Hanson Professional Services
  • Panhandle Eastern Pipeline
  • BUNN
  • Springfield Electric Supply Co.
  • Public Works
  • Heartland Credit Union
  • Junior League of Springfield
  • Scheels
  • Central Illinois Blood Center

The United Way is also encouraging members of the public to volunteer. The Central Illinois Food Bank needs help sorting food. Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County needs help with interior painting, and Henson Robinson Zoo is looking for people to help pick up and beautify trails.
