CHARLESTON, Ill. (WAND)- The man accused of setting fire to a building housing a bar and apartments has been fit to stand trial.
Brian Griffin, 30, faces charges of aggravated arson and attempted murder in connection with the February fire that destroyed Mother’s Bar. Firefighters rescued five people from the fire before the building’s roof collapsed.
Court records show Griffin was subject of a psychological evaluation ordered in August and was found fit to stand trial at a hearing Monday.
Griffin’s is due back in court for a status hearing October 9.
