SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) – Someone strangled a man whose body police found in a Springfield hotel, a coroner report says.

Police found Springfield man Michael Trone, 53, dead at about 2 p.m. on Sept. 7 at a hotel in the 3400 block of Freedom Drive. The Sangamon County Coroner says an autopsy revealed strangulation was a cause of death and noted the injury was "consistent with a homicide in manner".

The body discovery triggered a manhunt for a murder suspect.

First-degree murder and robbery warrants were issued Thursday for four suspects, including 38-year-old Chad Martin, 33-year-old James Lyman, 23-year-old Callie Pierce and 29-year-old Brandy Tate. Officers tell WAND-TV Martin, Lyman and Pierce are in custody in the Sangamon County Jail, while the search for Tate continues Thursday evening.

Police want anyone with information on the crime to call Springfield police at (217)788-8411. Anonymous tips can go to Sangamon/Menard County Crime Stoppers at (217)788-8427.
