Lincoln Presidential Library holding student art contest


SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and the Illinois State Board of Education is holding a statewide student art contest.

The theme of the contest is "Art Connects History with the Future."

Students from kindergarten through high school are encouraged to come up with posters on the topic.

The top 18 designs will be displayed at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum throughout 2019.

One winner will be used as a poster that will be sent to all schools during Illinois Arts Education Week, March 11-17.

Artwork can be submitted now through Dec. 14.

The winners will be announced on Feb. 12, Lincoln's birthday. 

There will be free admission at the museum that day.

The winner will also be recognized at an ISBE Board meeting.

Submissions must be 14 inches high by 11 inches wide in portrait orientation.

They cannot feature copyrighted characters.
