Springfield gets federal money to help homeless veterans


SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Springfield is working to find housing for those who served our country and are now down on their luck.

The Department of Urban Housing and Development and VA secretaries are working to get homeless veterans off the street.

Springfield has been selected as one of the five cities that will receive grants to house 23 veterans.

Those veterans will get vouchers as part of the $114,000 coming from HUD.

The Springfield Housing Authority will choose who gets the vouchers.
