White-Nationalist stickers plastered across UI campus

URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - Students and faculty are working to remove more than 200 white-nationalist stickers that were plastered around the University of Illinois campus.

The stickers were stuck to lampposts and signs last weekend, the News Gazette reports.

The stickers were from an organization called Patriot Front. It is considered a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League.

There were several different stickers. One had an anti-immigrant message. The others promoted the belief European-Americans conquered America. So, America belongs only to their descendants.

About 60 of the stickers were removed Wednesday.

Posting fliers, stickers, and other signs on unauthorized places are not allowed to be posted, regardless of content, per campus policy.

Most of the stickers were taken down by a couple of students. The News Gazette reports they spent more than five hours Saturday scraping them off campus property.
