Dead bird tests positive for West Nile in Coles County


COLES COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - Coles County has its first confirmed case of West Nile Virus.

The Coles County Health Department said a dead bird was collected in Charleston last month that tested positive for West Nile.

The Department said Blue Jays, crows, and other birds in their family are among the ones most susceptible to the virus.

They said West Nile Virus is fairly common and the county health department has confirmed cases of it in the past, but none last year.
