MATTOON, Ill. (WAND)- A Mattoon man has pleaded guilty to burglarizing Catholic Charities in July.
Kirk Mattingly, 36, initially admitted stealing from the non-profit in Mattoon early on a Sunday morning. Officers said they found Mattingly in the building’s parking lot at 3 a.m. but didn’t arrest him because they hadn’t heard about a crime yet.
Police heard from Catholic Charities about a break-in on Monday and contacted Mattingly, who admitted to the theft and told them where to find the stolen items.
Mattingly pleaded guilty to a burglary charge Monday, according to online court records. Under a plea agreement, Mattingly was sentenced to 30 months probation and various fees and fines.
