Proposed solar farms moving to full board for vote in Champaign Co.

URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - Five solar farms proposed for three properties in rural Champaign County are a step closer to becoming a reality.

The News Gazette reports The Champaign County Board's environment and land-use committee voted to advance three proposals to the full county board.

The county board will vote on whether to give full approval at their Nov. 27 meeting.

Two of the plans advanced with the group's recommendation. They were deadlocked on the third, but it did advance.

The three plans are proposed by San Francisco-based FFP IL Community Solar LLC.

One would be built in field east of a house at 2232A County Road 1000 N in rural Sidney. Another would be at the southwest corner of County Roads 2350E and 1700N in rural St. Joseph.

The third proposal would be a 2-megawatt community solar farm built 600 feet north of Schuren Nursery on the west side of County Road 2200 E in rural St. Joseph.
