Slumberland, Parent Help Line look for families needing bed donations


SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Slumberland and Parent Help Line at HSHS St. John's Children's Hospital are looking for families in need of bed donations.

Slumberland is donating 29 twin bed mattresses, box springs, and bed frames to children ages 2 through 13 in need.

The donation will be made Saturday, Dec. 15

The Parent Help Line is donating a new set of sheets for each bed, a $25 Visa gift card and coordinating the selection of families.

Qualified families should be in need, but living in a stable home and not threatened by eviction.

The beds are for kids who do not have a bed of any kind.

One bed can be awarded per household while supplies last.

Recipients must be able to pick up the bed at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15 at Slumberland, 2450 Chuckwagon Drive, Springfield.

Chick-Fil-A is donating 60 chicken and biscuit sandwiches and coffee for the event.

Santa will also be there to greet the families.

Agencies who have a client who could benefit can submit requests for more than one family.

To apply, contact and be sure to include the age of the child in need, the reason they do not currently have a bed, names of the families in need and their phone numbers.

Once the email is received, parents can expect a call from the Parent Help Line. All calls will be answered in the order in which the emails are received.
