#5

WAND News accepts interns for unpaid internships in the News Department throughout the year.  We actively solicit applicants through job fairs and through our arrangement with the Public Affairs reporting graduate program at the University of Illinois Springfield.  During this reporting period WAND hosted four interns.   In connection with Millikin University, two interns worked in the newsroom.  Both of them worked in the news room, one reporting and the other producing and reporting. In connection with the University of Illinois Springfield, the intern worked as a reporting intern.  In connection with Southern Illinois University, the intern worked as a producer and occasionally worked with our reporter.  Each intern receives academic credit for completion of the internship.

#1  &  #4

Asst. News Director, Tom Lesyna, General Sales Manager, Clay Koenig represented WAND-TV at the Springfield Chamber Job Fair located at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.  This event took place September 29, 2011.  Between the two of us we talked to approximately 20 individuals about job possibilities in the News and Production Departments.  Resumes were distributed to respective departments.

#6

Tours of our station given to students age 9 and up, and various organizations.  A complete and detailed report is available on request.
