John J. White, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. White relocated from Chicago in 1990, and opened his General Surgery practice in Decatur. With his training in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, he was one of the first surgeons in the Decatur area to perform gallbladder surgery, hernia repairs, appendectomies, and acid-reflux procedures using laparoscopic (keyhole) techniques. His practice now includes minimally invasive colon surgery. Dr. White practices the full range of general surgery including breast cancer operations, gallbladder surgery, hernia repair, and colonoscopys for colon cancer screening and diagnosis. He also performs thoracic surgical procedures including lung cancer surgery.
Dr. White is board certified in Surgery, is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of the AMA and Macon County Medical Society. He is currently Medical Staff President at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur. He performs surgery at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur Memorial Hospital, and Pana Community Hospital.
