STATEMENT TO VOTERS:
I would be honored to be elected Mayor of Decatur. The April 7, 2009 election will provide Decatur voters a choice of a new direction. The new direction that I advocate for Decatur is one of growth and prosperity and not more of the same. If elected to serve this great city as mayor, I will dedicate my efforts to get Decatur growing again by getting back to basics and expecting government to be accountable to voters. Getting "back to basics" means getting our financial house in order without high taxes. Getting back to basics means public safety for everyone and delivering essential city services efficiently. The mayor, city council and city government must dedicate themselves to growing our community and competing for investment and opportunity. We must also be a full partner with Decatur's schools to give every Decatur child the best education.
If elected, I will represent all citizens in the Decatur community with integrity and determination. I hope Decatur's voters will see this historic opportunity to choose a new direction. When we believe in ourselves and Decatur's potential, we can then expect more from our city and it's government. Let's choose a new direction together.
