Ameren hopes to educate customers on new project at open house
Ameren Illinois has a new plan to prevent customers in parts of central Illinois from losing power.
The utility wants to add a third transmission line between the Clinton power plant and its Oreana substation. The 345,000 volt line would serve as a back up in case the two existing lines are taken out of service.
Ameren expects the project to take about four years and a total of $15-million to complete. They say they don't expect it to drastically increase customers' rates.
Ameren is giving you an opportunity to learn more about the project at an open house going on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Argenta-Oreana Elementary School.
