Soldiers based in Central Illinois are scheduled to return home this week after serving in Iraq.
The Illinois Army National Guard said approximately 30 Springfield area soldiers with the 1844th Transportation Company based in Quincy are scheduled to return Friday after a year-long mobilization.
The troops are part of a transportation company moving essential cargo. The guard said the soldiers completed 82 Combat Logistic Patrol missions and 29 Convoy Escort Team missions, and 139 local missions throughout Kuwait and Iraq with no casualties. They have driven more than 662,500 miles during their service.
