State offers free tax help to eligible Illinois families
Governor Quinn urges Illinois families to use free state help to file their taxes.
Tax counceling project sites, like the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation in Champaign and the Decatur Public Library are open through February 15th.
Families earning less that $45,000 and individuals earning less than $20,000 a year qualify for the free service.
Volunteer tax counselors from the Center for Economic Progress are offering free tax preparation help during one-day sessions at the Jacksonville Community Park Center and Danville Area Community College from 9:00am to 4:00pm on February 15th.
Taxpayers can work with trained volunteers who will help them fill out their returns and make sure they file for all the credits, deductions, and other benefits to which they're entitled.
