Firefighters battle freezing temperatures in response to Shelbyville fire

Bitterly cold temperatures and blowing snow made quite a battle for firefighters early Tuesday morning.

The fire happened around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Stuart Fox Cattle Farm in rural Shelbyville about a mile away from the family home on the Clarksburg blacktop.

When crews got on scene the large barn was already fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters were slipping on ice and battling 40 mile per hour winds.

Freezing temperatures also made it hard to maintain adequate water supplies. Shelbyville called in mutual aid bringing in Stewardson, Strasburg, Windsor and Cowden in for help.

No one was hurt and no word on a possible cause.
