Community encouraged to wear red in support of heart disease awareness

To raise awareness of the number one killer in the United States, heart disease, people are encouraged to wear red on Friday.

Although heart disease is thought of as a "man's" disease, it is the leading cause of death for both women and men.

The latest statistics show more than 13,000 Illinois women died of heart disease in 2006, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
