Congressman propose special election to fill vacant Senate seats


Two Illinois Congressmen proposed a measure that would require special elections to fill U.S. Senate vacancies.

Republicans Aaron Schock and John Shimkus say the bill would require a special a special election within 90 days of the vacancy.

The move comes less than a week after lawmakers voted to remove Rod Blagojevich as governor for abuse of power after allegedly trying to profit by filling Barack Obama's former U.S. Senate seat among other allegations.

Blagojevich maintains his innocence.
