Informative meeting scheduled for hog producers working with Meadowbrook Farms
A public meeting is scheduled for hog producers who have done business with Meadowbrook Farms Co-op.
Earlier this week, Meadowbrook closed its packaging plant in Rantoul and in the process laid off 600 people. The company chairman says pending litigation on a defaulted contract by Natures Premium is costing them millions.
At the public meeting, the USDA will provide hog producers information and the forms necessary for filing a bond claim on payments due from Meadowbrook.
Meadowbrook says it's working with lenders and the USDA on getting a bridge loan in order to get laid off employees back to work.
