The bicentennial kicked off over the weekend with a new gallery of art dedicated to the 16th president.
"The Lincoln project" opened its doors to the public Sunday at the Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield.
Chicago-based painter Don Pollack began the project in 2002 painting landscapes from central Illinois counties where Lincoln practiced law. Pollack's work will be on display at the presidential museum through May.
