51st district accepting applications to fill soon to be vacant Senate seat

The Republican County Chairman in Senator Frank Watson's 51st Senate district is now looking for a replacement.

Anyone interested will have to put in an application. According to law, the Republican chairman is required to fill the vacancy with a Republican living in the district.

Each county chairman has a weighted vote based on the most recent general election. The appointee that fills the vacancy will serve the rest of Watson's current term that ends January, 2011.

Applications must be turned into a Republican County Chairmen by February 17th. Watson decided to retire after suffering a stroke this past fall.
