An Effingham teacher is recognized for his contributions by being named top educator of the nation.
Joe Fatheree accepted the award Friday in Washington, D.C. from the National Education Association. He also received $25,000.
One of Fatheree's accomplishments was that he helped create an Effingham-Teutopolis cooperative multimedia course.
Fatheree was previously named the 2006-2007 Illinois teacher of the year.
