The city of Decatur is warning residents about a significant change in lake and river water levels.
Due to melted snow and above average rainfall, the Sangamon Rivers' water level is expected to rise rapidly by about three feet during the next 48 hours.
The city urges anyone who might be affected, to use extreme caution on and around the river in the coming days. The river, downstream of the Lake Decatur dam is expected to overflow its banks.
The current water level is 613 feet.
