Legislation could allot more money to workforce development programs

Workers displaced by the recession could find new hope to get back on their feet.

Representative Bob Flider joined labor leaders and community college representatives at the UAW Hall Local 751 in Decatur Tuesday.

Flider says legislation he introduced would increase state funding for Illinois community college workforce development programs by $10-million.

Flider says as layoffs and job reductions mount, more needs to be done for the workers who have recently become unemployed. The legislation is awaiting further consideration in the House.
