Bomb threats made in Champaign County appear to be pranks

Posted:

Urbana police responded to Meijer on Philo Road before 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night after someone called the store and implied that there was a bomb in the building.

Management cleared customers out of the store while officers searched the building. They didn't find any signs of a bomb.

Earlier Tuesday, Wal-Mart on Prospect Avenue in Champaign also had a threatening phone call. That store was evacuated as well. There were no signs of a bomb at that location either.

The departments are working together to try and find out who called these threats in. So far there are no suspects.
