Champaign Mayor and Liquor Commissioner raise the bar age for Unofficial St. Patrick's Day

Champaign mayor and liquor commissioner Jerry Schweighart is declaring an emergency order for Unofficial St. Partick's Day at the University of Illinois on March 6th.

That means the bar entry age will be raised from 19 to 21 for that day. The emergency order will only apply to all campustown bars.

Illinois State Police will be working on enforcement while local police officers concentrate on private parties.

If an establishment is caught violating the emergency ordinance for Unofficial St. Patrick's Day they can be shut down temporarily or have their liquor licenses suspended.
