So far nothing has changed from December 1st when 11 state parks and many historic sites were closed by former Governor Glagojevich but, they could soon reopen thanks to Governor Quinn.
Chris McCloud with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources says the parks and historic sites will reopen soon.
McCloud would not elaborate to say if this means weeks or months. But, now in the year of Lincoln's 200th birthday local leaders feel it's important to get sites back up and running.
Spokesperson Libby White said, "their is no timeline but Governor Quinn is committed to reopening parks and historic sites."
Governor Pat Quinn is scheduled to present the state's budget March 18th and that's when a decision to open state parks will be decided.
