More street closures coming to downtown Champaign

One lane of Neil Street re-opened less than two weeks ago after being closed for months but starting March 1st, lanes surrounding the city building will be temporarily shut down to allow for masonry work.

The moisture created cracks on the outside of the building and could lead to mold growth inside. The Champaign City Building was built in the 1930's and is a designated historical landmark so the historic preservation commission had to approve the renovation.

The $850,000 project is expected to be completed in November.
