SAVOY, Ill. (WAND) — Real Life Families is closing with a farewell event and resource giveaway.
Christine Leeb, founder and Executive Director, founded the nonprofit in 2018 with the mission to promote healthy parent-child relationships across Champaign County. "My vision was—and still is—a community where every parent, regardless of background or income, has stigma-free, easily accessible, and no-cost parenting support," said Leeb.
Leeb is a certified Family Life Coach with a specialization in Parenting and Child Discipline. She has a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Science in Psychology and Child and Adolescent Development.
However, earlier this year, Leeb faced personal and family health scares. She said, “I turned 50 in May and all of it made me stop and really think and pray about my next phase of life."
After stepping aside, the board decided the nonprofit was no longer viable. It will dissolve on December 31.
Due to this, the Real Life Families will host a Farewell Event and Resource Giveaway on Tuesday, November 12, from 6 to 8:00 p.m. in room C at the Champaign Public Library. Blue Dragonfly will provide catering, door prizes, and free resources for parents.
“I’m sad to see Real Life Families go, but I’m excited to see what life will bring me next,” Leeb said. “My journey in parent support is not over and a new path will soon unfold. I’ll still be there in some form to help families on their parenting journeys!”
