SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - State and local leaders met yesterday for the signing of the beam in Springfield. 

It will be part of the transportation hub located behind the county building on 9th Street. 

The hub will hold Amtrak facilities and connections to Greyhound routes. 

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin played a big part in securing the funding and says the project is expected to be done in 2027.
