Emergency Landing

DALTON CITY, Ill. (WAND) - A pilot and a passenger are OK after emergency landing in rural Macon County.

First responders on scene told WAND News they were called to McDonald Road. That's just south of Hogan Road. Officials say a private airplane needed to make an emergency landing on the road around 8:30 a.m.

The Macon County Sheriff's office says the pilot and a passenger took off from the Decatur Airport and had been flying for a half hour when the plane started sputtering like it wasn't getting fuel.

Deputies say when the pilot glided the plane down to land on McDonald Road the landing gear did not completely deploy causing the propeller to make contact with the roadway, sending the airplane into the ditch.

No one was injured in the emergency landing.
