CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - Champaign County Crime Stoppers is offering an added incentive to the public for sharing tips about crimes.

Crime Stoppers is offering a 3-month pilot initiative called the "Gun Bounty Reward."

Anyone who contacts Crime Stoppers with a tip leading to the arrest of someone who used a gun in the commission of a felony crime in Champaign County will receive the maximum reward pay out, $1,000.

The decision to offer this incentive comes due to an increase in gun-related crimes in parts of Champaign County.
