SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) – A Decatur educator was named the top vice principal in the region Tuesday night.
The Illinois Principals Association recognized Ken Rufener, who is assistant principal at Eisenhower High School, for his work. The organization held the Abe Lincoln Region awards in Springfield.
Rufener has worked in his current role at Eisenhower for three years. He’s been an assistant principal in Decatur for 11 years.
Rufener also has a history working in the U.S. Army as a member of the military police.
He worked at Thomas Jefferson Middle School before taking his current job at Eisenhower.
