(WAND) - An Effingham native is set to join more than 200 seriously wounded and ill service members and veterans at the Warrior Games in Texas. 

The competition is being held June 13-20 in San Antonio. 

Retired Navy Aircrew Survival Equipmentman 1st Class James Shoemaker will compete against other veterans and service members from all military branches. He will compete in archery, sitting volleyball, swimming, and track. 

The competition is hosted by the U.S. Army Transformation and Training Command. This is the 16th year for the Warrior Games. 

Shoemaker joined the Navy in 2005, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and stepfather.
