3-year-old killed in fire identified

RIVERTON, Ill. (WAND) - A father is in critical condition after trying to rescue his toddler son who died in a Riverton mobile home fire.

3-year-old Jonathon McDonough died in the early morning hours Wednesday.

His body was found inside the home after the fire was put out.

His father is in the hospital burn unit with severe injuries.

Officials told WAND he tried rescuing his son.

The family described the blonde haired, blue-eyed Jonathon as a typical 3-year-old little boy who loved making mud pies, catching bugs, riding his tricycle, and being with his daddy.

The family does not have life, health or property insurance .

The home was a total loss.

The family also has a 6-month-old.
