Forsyth – The happiest place to live in Illinois? According to the website “RoadSnacks” it’s Forsyth in Macon County.
“I do love this town,” Forsyth Mayor Marilyn Johnson told WAND’s Doug Wolfe. “We have tried to continue to be family oriented.”
Forsyth prides itself in its parks, activities and the ability for its public works department to keep the town clean.
“I’m out on the bike trails and walking and having a good time,” said one woman walking through Forsyth Park. “Yards are kept nice. There’s a lot of things that are offered to the community.”
“We invest heavily in our parks and we just put in a disc golf course,” Village Trustee Kerstin Trachtenberg said. “We’ve got beautiful running and walking paths, a beautiful library.”
RoadSnacks rated more than 400 Illinois communities with Forsyth placing first followed by Mahomet, Sherman and Rochester. Chicago was ranked among the most miserable places in the state to live. (Pictured: Forsyth Veterans Memorial)
