SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Horace Mann will donate $20,000 to Springfield Public Schools after the annual Charity Golf Classic.
$40,000 was raised by the insurance and financial services company for educators through the charity event on Aug. 13.
The other $20,000 raised through the golf outing will be presented to Joel Feldman, Founder of End Distracted Driving, a non-profit organization whose mission is to save lives from distracted driving through advocacy, education and action.
Joel Feldman and his wife founded EndDD.org in 2009 after their 21-year-old daughter, Casey Feldman, was struck and killed by a distracted driver while she was crossing the street in a crosswalk at a 4-way stop intersection.
Horace Mann President and CEO Marita Zuraitis will publicly present the donations to Springfield Public Schools Foundation officials and to End Distracted Driving (EndDD.org) Founder Joel Feldman, at Southeast High School at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
