House fire displaces 2 in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) – Firefighters contained a house fire to a bedroom in Champaign.

Crews say they came to the scene at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, where they found flames and heavy smoke coming from a bedroom window. The house is in the 1300 block of Harris Avenue.

Firefighters say a single hose line placed in the house put the fire out quickly.

There were no injuries in the fire and investigators say the cause is undetermined as they continue working on the case.

“The Champaign Fire Department reminds all citizens to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence and to have and practice a home escape plan,” firefighters said in a press release. “Smoke alarms can provide early notification when seconds count.”

Two people living in the home were displaced after the fire.
