Health Department Expands Walk-In Immunization Clinics

DECATUR - The Macon County Health Department says it will offer Meningococcal vaccines to high school students over the age of 16 at special clinics this April.

Officials say MacArthur High School will host a special clinic on April 8 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.  Eisenhower High School will host a clinic on April 15 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Health Department officials are encouraging all eligible students to receive the vaccine, as Meningococcal disease can be fatal or cause permanent damage, such as amputated appendages, severe scarring, hearing loss, and brain and kidney damage.

Parents interested in having their children participate in this clinic are asked to contact their respective schools for more information.
