Rochester educator named Illinois' superintendent of the year

ROCHESTER - A central Illinois superintendent has been named Illinois' superintendent of the year.

During an Illinois Association of School Administrators conference on Sunday, Rochester Community Unit District 3A superintendent Thomas Bertrand received the award.

In a statement, Bertrand said that he considers the recognition humbling.

Bertrand has worked as an educator for 28 years, including his time as a coach, teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent.  He became Rochester's superintendent in 2002.
