Fake money still a growing problem

SPRINGFIELD - Springfield Plastics, Inc. has announced that it will donate $22,665 to the Simmons Cancer Institute at Southern Illinois University in Springfield.

Officials say Springfield Plastics launched its "Drain for the Cure" campaign in October in an effort to raise money for cancer research.  Springfield Plastics pledged to match the donation amount up to $10,000, and at the end of the campaign $12,665 had been raised from donations alone.

The Simmons Cancer Institute serves central and southern Illinois residents by addressing present and future cancer care needs through medical education, patient care, biomedical research, and community service.

Springfield Plastics officials will present the donation to Simmons Cancer Institute at a formal check presentation ceremony on November 14.
