Ashonti is a California native and San Francisco Gator Alumni. After serving as an intern for nearly 10 broadcast companies around the country, she accepted her first reporter job for a local ABC affiliate in Maryland. From there, Ashonti quickly jumped to an NBC affiliate in Wichita, Kansas. Here, she gained her watchdog journalism skills; earning several exclusive interviews in addition to  being awarded for her work on hidden history within the community.

Ashonti’s diverse skillset has given her the opportunity to serve as on air talent for major radio stations throughout Los Angeles,  as well as work closely with CBS’s investigative unit in Miami, during the Trayvon Martin case. Ashonti is also a proud member of the Big Brother Big Sister Organization where she serves as a BIG.

She now joins WAND’s News team as a Weekend Anchor and Investigative Reporter. Outside of work you may find Ashonti at Planet Fitness or protesting in various areas throughout the city, for a Trader Joes and In-N-Out Burger to become available in Decatur.
