Hero of the Week: Reilly Fitzpatrick, Maroa-Forsyth

Join WAND's Gordon Voit every Wednesday for Hero of the Week, where Voit puts the spotlight on a member of the community who is demonstrating unusual character on and off the field!

FORSYTH -- It might be the busiest leg in the state.

Maroa-Forsyth's undefeated 48-point-per-game offense has a secret weapon named Reilly Fitzpatrick, and Reilly is in charge of capping off all those touchdown drives.

The senior is believed to be the highest-scoring female football player in Illinois history thanks to three years of prolific accuracy, but the number 34 is most indicative of her skills. That's what she scored on her ACT, and the future engineer is on pace to be valedictorian of her class.

After school is over? She plans on using her engineering skills to help develop infrastructure in impoverished communities overseas. But for now her immediate goal is to cap of her career with a state championship ring.
