CHAMPAIGN -- In all phases, it was a dominant performance.
The Illinois offense shot 56.3 percent and the defense limited Evansville to 37.7 percent shooting -- while forcing 26 turnovers.
The Illini led by as many as 42 and won the season opener 99-60 on Thursday night at the State Farm Center.
Aaron Jordan scored a game-high 19 points for the Illini to go with 7 rebounds. Highly touted freshman guard Ayo Dosunmu filled the stat sheet with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and just 1 turnover. Another newcomer, junior college transfer Andres Feliz, posted 16 points and 3 assists. Kipper Nichols (13 points) and Trent Frazier (10 points, 7 assists) also reached double figures in scoring, while freshman forward Giorgi Bezhanishvili racked up 10 rebounds and 7 points.
