Tonight Show "Superlatives" Take Aim at Former Illinois, EIU Players

NEW YORK -- A pair of locally-known football players were the butt of some good-natured jokes on late night TV.

Illinois alumnus Ted Karras and former EIU QB Jimmy Garoppolo were the subjects of Jimmy Fallon's light-hearted ridicule on this week's "Tonight Show Superlatives".  The weekly segment, which features players from NBC's upcoming Sunday Night Football game, pokes fun at the players' standard team photos, using phrases like "Most likely to..." often seen in high school yearbooks.

Karras, an offensive lineman with Illinois from 2012 to 2015 - and now with the New England Patriots - was called "Most likely to get kicked out of an Apple store for yelling 'NERRRRRRRRRDS!!!'"

Garoppolo played for Eastern Illinois form 2010 to 2013, earning the 2013 Walter Payton Award, given to the top player in the FCS. The 3rd-year pro helped the Patriots to a 3-1 start to the season during the suspension of Patriots star Tom Brady.

Garoppolo's superlative was much more flattering than most, earning the title "Sexy Aladdin."

Karras, Garoppolo, and the Patriots play the Seattle Seahawks Sunday night on NBC. It's the first time the teams will have met since the thrilling Super Bowl XLIX.
