Above average warmth continues into mid-July

(WAND) -- The break from the excessive heat is over with more 90s on the way this week.

Meteorologist Adam Del Rosso says the coolest days this week will be Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the upper 80s and overnight lows in the mid 60s. Otherwise, he says to expect highs in the 90s and lows in the 70s.

Del Rosso says to not expect much rain this week either with stray chances Monday and Tuesday. The best opportunity, still isolated, he says looks to come early in the weekend. Amounts look to stay under 0.50", he says.

With the corn nearing maturity, Ag Expert Dave Brown says we want the opposite in the forecast -- cool nights and adequate moisture. With the growing degree days still accumulating at a healthy pace, he says harvest will be much ahead of schedule.  Farmers will be looking at preparation for harvest most likely towards the first of August.
