CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — The Champaign Fire Department was able to quickly extinguish a fire in a single-family home in the 300 block of west Tremont St. on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire was reported by an occupant of the single-story home. When crews arrived to the scene, they saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the home. Fire fighters deployed multiple hose lines to extinguish the flames.
The cause of this fire has not been determined as investigators remain on the scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported. The occupant will be displaced because of the fire.
The Champaign Fire Department reminds everyone to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence and to have and practice a home escape plan. Smoke alarms can provide early notification when seconds count.
